Evolve Design
Art Direction
Conceptual Development
Branding
OBJECTIVE
Develop the annual branding and theme for one of Arizona’s most creative conferences, Phoenix Design Week, in collaboration with AIGA Arizona.
SOLUTION
As design lead, I worked closely with fellow designer Zanna Sarama to identify a concept that visually represented the unique and diverse Arizona design community. Many factors were taken into consideration, most importantly developing a cohesive look and feel that would translate across a variety of marketing materials for print, digital and large format event installs.
During our discovery process, we created vibrant, fluid forms as the bases of the branding, symbolizing the ever morphing trends of design, forming the theme Evolve Design. This year long project was an entire cross-agency effort from design, copywriting, video to project management. Creative execution included:
Developing a brand guideline with creative direction, tone and voice, logo varieties, typefaces, color palette and visual examples
Our team was also in charge of designing direct mailers, entry badges, social graphics, animated stickers, presentation deck templates, program, venue signage and the event website
One of the biggest components was creating the opening video for the event with stunning visuals and in-depth interviews with local creatives
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The Evolve Design theme was a success, increasing event registration by 73% and new website traffic by 85%, year over year.
Video views across all channels increased by 136k and event social posts were shared 3.23k.
